Capturing such a big day in a couple's life is an honour.
Ever since my childhood weddings have intrigued me and I find every aspect of the romantic ritual captivating. Throughout my life I've attended more weddings than I could possibly count and it only seems natural that my career weaves around such a trail of celebration.
I'm finding it a fascinating time to be shooting weddings and observing the meeting of old world traditions with our modern age of fashion, technology and liberal expression. For me, there's an overwhelming sense of pleasure to be found in witnessing the atmosphere; the great modern romance.
At a recent wedding that I photographed the celebrant expressed the sentiment that “marriage is a journey, not a destination.” Over the past two years I have been lucky enough to witness the beginning of numerous journeys. Whether it begins in a leafy sculpture garden or on a windswept West Coast beach, whether the bridal party travels in a refurbished Volkswagen Kombi or a shining Holden V8, each journey is unique and a privilege to be part of.
