Choose a location that you feel special at. One that has the atmosphere that you feel works for your day. For a recent wedding fashion shoot we did, we choose Kohekohe Church at Waiuku, a run down old church. Then we went to Sunnyview Orchards on the main Kumeu highway out to Muriwai and did some engagement styled work onto the beach at at dusk the light is just magic.
Consider planning your day so that you can capture mood lighting, e.g. not having location creative styled work shot in the middle of high sunlight.
Some of my clients choose to go out-of-town, and everyone has a wonderful weekend adventure in a new place of the country, there can be lots of sightseeing and catch ups at cafe's the day after.
